In the year 2015, Gleevec generated huge amount to sales around the world but in the same year, the patent for the drug expired.  

Novartis is looking forward to enhance the uses of Tasigna in order to treat diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. The researchers found that it is effective in a small number of patients with those diseases.
